Wine Notes 2014

The El Rey Vineyard sits on a south-east facing slope 14 miles from the the Pacific Ocean.  This beautiful stretch of the Central Coast is also home to world class Pinot Noir.   The El Rey Vineyard follows the area’s rich tradition by producing an expressive Pinot Noir.  Under the guidance of wine maker, Sonja Magdevski, our 2014 vintage is gently handcrafted using two different clones of Pinot Noir. Each of these clonal lots add a different dimension to the final blend.

Our Pinot Noir welcomes you in with a deep ruby hue and aromas of ripe red fruit and baking spice.  The clones 828 and 115 lots provide the backbone of this wine and add raspberry, strawberry, and sweet dark cherry notes.  These two clones complement the foundation of rich fruit by lacing in notes of cinnamon, nutmeg, and roasted herbs.  The wine was raised in a combination of new and seasoned French oak barrels and offers just a hint of vanilla and smoke to complement the ripe fruit and spice profile this wine offers.

We are proud to offer this special wine from our 2014 vintage.
