Santa Barbara County Pinot Noir

Our Story

Cars and Cowboys 2022

Susan Ashbrook and husband, Derek McLeish, decided to grow their own grapes and make wine a family affair.  The couple started farming and producing El Rey Wine in 2006.

Pinot Noir grapes can be complex, elusive and difficult to grow, but the result of high-quality care for the vineyard is award winning wines.

The couple are involved from the ground up.   “We believe that great wine is made in the vineyard.  The distinctive taste of El Rey wines is a combination of the unique terroir of the region, sustainability through organic practices, and authentic farming”.
